Congratulations Physician Leadership Graduates

BayCare celebrated the graduation of its third group of Physician Leaders during the annual Leadership Forum on May 15.

Jim Merlino, MD, chief transformation officer at Press Ganey, was the forum's guest speaker, discussing zero harm in the health care environment. Teri Sholder, BayCare's chief quality officer, gave an overview of BayCare's Zero Harm journey at the forum.

The Physician Leadership Program, established in 2014, is based upon our belief that physician leadership is key to the success of our health system.

The goal of the program is to deliver leadership training that enables physicians to lead in the delivery of exceptional health care. The combination of a formal curriculum, social engagement and mentorship programs provides the core model for a comprehensive and sustainable leadership program.

Physicians are selected for the program by senior management, and they are either on the leadership path or have been identified as having leadership potential. Participants are respected by their peers, are committed to the community and exhibit the values of the organization.

Upon completion of the 18-month program, graduates are increasingly looked upon to participate in and lead initiatives toward driving clinical excellence and are also given the opportunity to attend our biannual Leadership Forum. Those forums are by invitation only and include BayCare senior leaders and medical executives, giving the graduates an ever-increasing voice in our system.

Join us in congratulating our 63 physician graduates, including five graduates of the Turley Family Practice residency leadership track.
